My love for aviation started early on, thanks to my dad's stories of his days as a glider pilot. As kids, my brother and I would always tease him when he would begin a sentence with "when I was a glider pilot" but his passion for flying stuck with us.
Years later, my dad returned to gliding and my brother and I were excited to see him take to the skies again. That enthusiasm led my brother to take a week-long gliding course at the local gliding center, which he loved and quickly progressed to solo flying. I followed in his footsteps, starting to fly at weekends and achieving my first solo flight on my 16th birthday.
Despite my love for flying, I found myself in an apprenticeship program to become an electrical/avionic technician on the Westland Lynx helicopter. While it was an incredible opportunity, it didn't leave much time or money for flying.
Now, with over 15 years of experience in the aviation industry as a mechanical and avionic licensed engineer, I've started my PPL journey and also create aviation-inspired wall art. My hope is that these pieces will serve as conversation starters for fellow pilots to reminisce about their experiences at each airport, as well as a visual delight for non-aviation enthusiasts. From celebratory gifts to office décor, these pieces are a reminder of the thrill of flying.
